Mature vines with deep, established roots, struggle and naturally produce fewer
clusters with smaller berries that ripen slower. This combination of lower yields,
smaller berries and longer hang time create wines that are richer, more concentrated
and complex. Two of the oldest vineyards in Washington State, Kiona Estate (50%) on
Red Mountain and Sagemoor (33%) on the banks of the Columbia River are comprised
of vines over 35 years old, with the remainder of the grapes (17%) harvested from
Ceil du Cheval on Red Mountain.

Named for the patriarch of the family, made from 100% Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon,
big doesn’t even begin to describe the wine. It begins with a huge forward burst of
anise and olives that gives into blackberries and plums, followed up with pencils
shavings and ending on a beautiful floral note. Once in the mouth the velvet texture
is unmistakable, the focused tannins cradle the tongue with a long finish of sweet
spices and dark chocolate that makes me say yum.
