‘Tis The Season for Angie Blanc de Blancs
Angie Blanc de Blancs is more than just a bottle of wine—it’s a true reflection of the spirit, passion, and dedication of the people behind it. Named in honor of Angela Taylor, the guiding force behind EFESTĒ, this sparkling wine celebrates her leadership, perseverance, and passion for family, friends, and really great wine. Angela, along with her husband Kevin and her parents Daniel and Helen Ferrelli, founded EFESTĒ in 2005, continuing a winemaking tradition that that stretches back generations. From garage winemaking in Prohibition Chicago to owning three Estate Vineyards in some of the best wine regions of Washington, their journey has always been about more than just making wine; it’s about creating something that brings people together. And with every popped cork on a bottle of Angie Blanc de Blancs, we celebrate that journey, and the people who’ve made it all possible!
The Winemaking Process
Sourced from the Clos CheValle Vineyard, tucked away overlooking beautiful Lake Chelan, these Chardonnay grapes are perfect for crafting a traditional method of sparkling wine. Angie Blanc de Blancs first undergoes native fermentation in 100% neutral barrels for one year. Once that fermentation is complete, we add champagne yeast and a bit of priming sugar, a process called “tirage”, which allows for the secondary fermentation process to begin. This process creates CO2, carbonating the wine for those classic bubbles. This secondary fermentation and aging take place in bottle for 18-24 months until the wine reaches its peak. All that’s left is to pop the cork and enjoy!
The Vineyard
The Clos CheValle Vineyard in Lake Chelan AVA provides an ideal backdrop for crafting exceptional sparkling wines. The vineyard’s elevation and unique microclimate create perfect conditions for Chardonnay grapes, infusing them with vibrant acidity and nuanced flavors. The serene landscape and carefully tended vines contribute to the refined character and elegance of the wines produced here.
Tasting Notes
The 2021 vintage of Angie Blanc de Blancs enchants with its delicate, floral bouquet, accented by vibrant notes of lemon zest and hints of candied almonds. Delight in a crisp and invigorating profile, with flavors of green apple and Asian pear taking center stage. The bright acidity adds a refreshing lift, while the tight bubbles enhance the mouthfeel, creating an elegant texture. Perfectly balanced and refreshingly complex, it’s ideal for celebrating any moment.
Reviews and Accolades
Some reviews from our recent vintages include:
Sunset International Wine Competition: “Balanced fruit. Lengthy finish. Vibrant mid-palate.” —96 Points DOUBLE GOLD 2020 vintage
Paul Gregutt: “This is all Chardonnay, given a bit more dosage than the previous (first) edition. It’s got a peppery note, with a classic, dry, almost dusty palate. Not too fruity, it’s elegant and detailed, with palate-pleasing minerality. This is a sophisticated méthode chempenoise wine, one of the finest I’ve yet tasted from Washington.” —93 Points 2020 vintage
