We create wines that show the diversity of Washington – utilizing minimalist techniques, showcasing regional terroir, and focusing on purity of fruit.
– EFESTĒ
In 2007, EFESTĒ planted three estate vineyards in two separate appellations in Washington State. Each of the three sites were planted with varietals and employ techniques uniquely suited to maximizing the potential for the particular vineyard site. EFESTE’s winemaking team works closely with our Vineyard Manager at all three sites, Washington grape-growing legend Dick Boushey.
ANGELA’S VINEYARD
Red Mountain AVA
Planted on both North and South-facing slopes reaching from 650 to 600 feet elevation of Red Mountain’s Northeastern tip, Angela’s Vineyard showcases remarkable texture, purity of fruit, and concentration. Growing, soil composition, and weather conditions at Angela’s Vineyard are uniquely suited to our winemaking technique, allowing us to showcase purity of fruit and that unmistakable Red Mountain terroir.
EFESTE Wines from Angela’s Vineyard
Estate Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Ceidleigh Syrah, Final Final, & Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Planted Acres: 19
Planted Varietals:
Syrah – Clone 174 (Ceidleigh); Clones 383 & 877 (Final Final)
Grenache
Cabernet Sauvignon – Clones 191, 8, & 2 (Final Final & Estate Cabernet)
Cabernet Franc
Soil: The soil at Angela’s Vineyard is a sandy loam with a granular consistency, enabling the vines to develop a deep root system. High in alkalinity and calcium carbonate content, which results in small berries and powerful tannins. This is uniquely complimentary to our winemaking style, where our native fermentation and extended maceration techniques allow us to level tannins and enhance the approachability of these wines.
TAYLOR MAG VINEYARD
Red Mountain AVA
Planted on flatter terrain, Taylor Mag is situated across Sunset Road from Angela’s Vineyard on Red Mountain. Taylor Mag is ideally situated for Bordeaux varietals and is primarily planted with three different clones of Cabernet Sauvignon. Its densely-planted vines and ideal sun exposure produce a dark, robust Cab Sauv with Red Mountain’s signature complexity and minerality. Our Taylor Mag Cabernet Sauvignon series is exclusively made from this vineyard, along with our Estate Petit Verdot.
EFESTE Wines from Taylor Mag Vineyard
Taylor Mag Cabernet, Upright Merlot, Petit Verdot
Planted Acres: 17.5
Planted Varietals:
Cabernet Sauvignon – Clone 8, 2, & 191 (Taylor Mag Cab)
Merlot
Petit Verdot
Soil: High alkalinity and calcium carbonate content, the soil at Taylor Mag is extra silty and loamy, allowing for good drainage and water retention. This South-facing slope is dusty, one of the characteristics you can often taste on the finish of many wines sourced from this vineyard. We utilize a system of high-density planting and single-cordon trellising, which work to create fruit with a higher flavor concentration.
OLDFIELD ESTATE VINEYARD
Yakima Valley AVA
Oldfield Vineyard might be the most unique of all our estates. Situated at an extremely high elevation for the AVA, 1,400 feet, Oldfield’s soils lay above the Missoula Flood Plain, meaning that these soils are 100% indigenous and ancient. This rocky terrain and warm, even climate produce a wine that’s equal parts pretty and powerful. The soft, feminine fruit profile is classic Washington, while its gravely mineral tones bring complexity and balance to our fruit.
EFESTE Wines from Oldfield Vineyard
Oldfield Estate Rosé, Jolie Bouche Syrah, Adrienne Chenin Blanc (v. 2025+)
Planted Acres: 23.5
Planted Varietals:
Syrah – Phelps (Jolie Bouche); 383 (Knight Commander)
Grenache
Mourvèdre
Chenin Blanc
Soil: Situated at 1,400ft above the Missoula Flood Plain, the soils at Oldfield are a deep silt-loam with a rocky terrain that imparts a gravel minerality into the wines produced out of here. Yakima Valley AVA is Washington’s oldest grape-growing region and is home to nearly a third of the states planted acreage.
