A rare specialty here at EFESTĒ, the long awaited 2020 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon makes its return for Wine Club Reserve members. This rare delight demonstrates the quality craftsmanship that sets our wines apart—aged 3 years in new, 100% oak barrels, made from the free run juice of grapes straight from fermentation for a fuller, bolder wine.
Our Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in 4 Tonnellerie Plantagenet barrels – made from oak chosen from four forests, with twenty-five percent from each forest, allowing for a consistent, equal blend in each barrel. The four forests come from the four regions in France known for producing oak for wine barrels—NE France, the Loire Valley, and neighborhoods of Paris and Western France.
A free run wine, the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is characterized by its purity and elegance —a high-quality wine resulting from the careful collection of juice without additional pressure or interference of grape skins or seeds. This results in a more delicate and nuanced flavor profile, with softer tannins and better clarity of fruit flavors.
The wine opens bright and quite fruity, with juicy plums and candied apples. The mouthfeel is big, with hints of leather and game. There is incredible spice and balanced acidity, lending itself to a long and persistent finish.
